Scheduling, Cancellations, Pauses & Refunds

MrTeach reserves tutoring time specifically for each student. These policies are designed to keep scheduling fair and predictable for families while allowing reasonable flexibility when plans change.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling a tutoring session.

With at least 24 hours’ notice, the session may be rescheduled without penalty, subject to availability.

With less than 24 hours’ notice, the session counts as the scheduled session unless MrKenny approves an exception because of an emergency or unusual circumstance.

A missed appointment or no-show is treated the same as a late cancellation.

For families using an 8-session package, one session is deducted.

For pay-as-you-go families, the scheduled session remains payable.

There is no separate cancellation fee or missed-appointment fee.

Student Late Arrival

If MrTeach arrives on time and the student is not available, there is a 15-minute grace period.

If the student becomes available during that grace period, tutoring may begin, but the session will still end at the originally scheduled time.

If the student is still unavailable after 15 minutes, the session becomes a missed appointment and the normal missed-appointment policy applies.

If MrTeach Is Delayed

If MrTeach is running late, the family will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.

Whenever possible, the full scheduled tutoring time will still be provided.

If the full session cannot be completed because of MrTeach’s late arrival, the unused tutoring time will be made up, credited, or refunded as appropriate.

Families are not charged for tutoring time MrTeach did not provide.

If MrTeach Cancels

If MrTeach cancels a session, there is no charge and no package session is deducted.

If MrTeach cancels a session near a package expiration date and the session cannot be rescheduled before the package expires, the affected session will be refunded.

Planned Pauses and Vacations

Families may request a planned pause of up to two consecutive weeks at a time, with a maximum of four paused weeks per semester.

Whenever possible, please request a planned pause at least seven days in advance.

During an approved pause within these limits, the family’s secured recurring appointment time will be held.

If a pause exceeds these limits, or the family does not resume tutoring as scheduled, MrTeach may release the recurring appointment time for another student.

MrTeach holidays, closures, and MrTeach-caused cancellations do not count against a family’s pause allowance.

Approved pauses do not extend a tutoring package’s expiration date.

School Breaks and Summer

MrTeach encourages students to continue tutoring during school breaks and summer when possible to maintain skills, reinforce learning, and preserve academic momentum.

Families who continue tutoring through the summer may keep their regular appointment time, subject to MrKenny’s schedule.

Families who take the summer off release their secured recurring appointment time.

When returning for a new school year, a new appointment time must be selected from the availability that exists at that time.

Charter-Funded Tutoring During School Breaks

Charter-funded tutoring may take place only while the student’s charter school is in session.

During school breaks or summer, charter-school families may continue tutoring through private pay at MrTeach’s standard approved private-pay tutoring rate.

If a family does not continue privately during the summer, the regular summer appointment-release policy applies.

Tutoring Package Expiration

School-year tutoring packages expire on the last instructional day of the applicable semester, based on the student’s school or charter calendar.

Summer tutoring packages expire the day before the student’s first instructional day of the new school year.

Unused sessions do not roll over into the next semester or school year.

Approved pauses do not extend the package expiration date.

The applicable expiration date will be clearly provided to the family before the package is purchased.

If a student’s school follows trimesters, quarters, a year-round calendar, or another schedule that makes a semester-based expiration date unclear, MrTeach will confirm the applicable package-end date with the family before purchase.

Tutoring Package Refunds

Unused eligible package sessions may be refundable when a refund is requested before the applicable package expiration date.

When a package refund is calculated, all completed or charged sessions are recalculated at the regular $49 per-session rate. Any remaining eligible balance is then refunded.

Late-cancellation and missed-appointment sessions count as used sessions when calculating a refund.

For example, if a family purchased the $353 8-session package and three sessions had been used or charged, those three sessions would be recalculated at 3 × $49 = $147. The remaining eligible refundable balance would be $206.

There is no refund-processing fee or administrative refund fee.

Refunds involving charter-funded tutoring follow the charter school’s requirements and the appropriate charter-funding process.

Formal Academic Assessment Refunds

Formal academic assessment fees are refundable only before testing begins.

Once any portion of the scheduled formal assessment testing has begun, the full assessment fee is considered used and is nonrefundable.

This rule also applies to combined Reading + Math formal assessment packages.

School Report Review Refunds

School Report Review / Academic Growth Plan services become nonrefundable once the parent or guardian provides the school report to MrKenny for review.

Review and processing begin when the report is received.

Academic Outcomes

MrTeach provides academic support, skill-building strategies, personalized guidance, and individualized learning plans designed to support student growth.

Specific grades, test scores, or academic outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Progress depends on factors including individual effort, consistent attendance, completion of assigned work, and active participation.
